Meeting Notes from November 1, 2018
The meeting opened with President Dave Boldt leading the Pledge of Allegiance, Bob Mutchler leading us in song, and Bob Mange giving an Invocation.  After dinner, the meeting reconvened with Jim Padgett introducing guests.
Steve Miklos talked about the mystery trip that was held on October 25.  The attendees had a great time.  Steve also talked about the Alaska cruise on September 7, 2019.  Deposits of $500 per person need to be into Steve by November 19 if you want to get the "freebies" that Steve has arranged.  You can still give Steve your deposit after the 19th and it is refundable 90 or more days before the sailing date.
In March, we will have a Murder Mystery Dinner at the clubhouse.
John Messner announced that November is Foundation Month.  He talked about Polio Plus which started in 1985 when there were 125 endemic countries and the number of new polio cases per year was 350,000.  Now there are 3 endemic countries, Pakistan, Afganistan, and Nigeria.  He said Nigeria is very close to being polio-free.  He offered a $5 Starbucks gift card to the member who could name Rotary's 4 partners.  Patti Mutchler had the correct answer.  He  presented a Paul Harris +3 pin to Tom Parker and a Paul Harris +4 pin to Dan Nitz.  Lastly, he reminded members that donations to Polio Plus are tax deductible.  For the End Polio Ride at Tour de Tucson, District 5180 will match 1 for 1 donations and the Gates Foundation will match 2 for 1.  Steve Borosky, John Messner, Garry Parlier, and Frank Woods will ride to end polio in Tucson, November 17.
Bill Hutto announced again that Monika Reyes was nominated as President-Elect for 2020/2021.
Nominations can be made from the floor as long as the nominee states in writing to the Club Secretary that he/she will accept the nomination.  The club will vote at our meeting on November 8.
Bob Quinlan asked for volunteers to speak at Folsom Lake Interact Club meetings.  If you would like to address the Interactors, contact Bob.
President Dave said that we have been asked to serve wine at an event on December 5 and 6.  There will be a sign-up sheet at our November 8 meeting.  Dave also asked members to bring leftover Halloween candy to the November 8 meeting to be handed out at the Veterans Day Parade.
Brian Martell announced Orville Wegat was 97 on October 30.  The club honored Orville by singing the club tribute song.
Steve Sprague levied fines.
Our program was Paul Bonaventure interviewing 4 members.  He interviewed Jim Padgett, Samatha Davidson, John Leung, and Orville Wegat.  This is always an interesting program where we get to learn about our members.
