Meeting Notes from March 1, 2018
 
Orville Wegat reported that he called George Econome and that George was unhappy about missing the meeting tonight.  George sent his regards to the members.  Orville also reminded us that he, Orville, will be 100 in 2.5 years.
 
Rich Rider told us that, in 1993, he was an Ambassadorial Scholar to Australia and that he joined the Rotary Club of Folsom the following year.  He announced that he is retiring from the Sacramento County Sheriffs Department the end of March, after 24 years of service.
 
Bill Hutto thanked the club volunteers who worked at TAP Folsom.  The club received a check for $1,000 from the Chamber for our service.
 
Monika Reyes announced that purchase of Wine and Dine tickets and monetary donations to the Wine and Dine Silent Auction can be made online.   Go to the Wine and Dine Event page for the link to purchase tickets and make a donation.
 
Adrian Blanco purchased the bar to celebrate one year in business and one year in the club.

President Paul introduced the speakers, John Messner and Frank Woods.  John and Frank talked about their recent experiences in India as they participated in a Mass Polio Vaccination.  John started the presentation with a history of the Rotary Foundation Polio Plus Program that started in 1985.  Frank talked about meeting the Rotarians from the four clubs in Agra for lunch.  After lunch and listening to speeches on polio vaccination in India, they participated in a polio rally by handing out flyers announcing the mass vaccination occurring the next day.  John talked about the mass vaccination.  There were 63 Rotarians from 7 countries who participated in the vaccination and vaccinated approximately 2,000 children under the age of 5.  John and Frank also visited two schools with Rotary ties before leaving Agra on their tour of India.  The second school visited is a Rotary School sponsored by the Rotary Club of Agra Tajmahal.  Frank presented a check for $1,500 to the school from some of our members with a request that the money be used to remodel a restroom and purchase audio equipment.  Our club board voted an additional $500 from the club for further projects at the school.

John purchased a tiger painting on silk and had it framed.  He auctioned it off with the funds to go to the Rotary Club of Agra Tajmahal school.  Thanks to Mike Curtin for the highest bid.
 
President Paul presented a box of Snook's Chocolates to Frank and John for speaking to the club.
