President Dave Boldt opened the meeting and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Bob Mutchler initiated a song. Bob Mange said a prayer.
Secretary Jim Padgett welcomed guests.
Dave announced that District Governor Jack Arney gave a $93,000 check to Gridley for Paradise, from the district.
The club welcomed new member Patrick Mummy, who owns Symmetry.
Ken Stuart briefly discusses his work in Oroville/Paradise with environmental efforts. He has been helping feed Camp Fire victims for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and was contracted by Butte County. He said Paradise is 95 percent destroyed.
Dave mentioned there would be a board meeting after club.
Paul Bonaventure hosted the vocational part of the meeting.
Jim Ortega was first. He was raised in San Jose and is the second oldest of his siblings. He moved to Carmichael in 1980. He grew up around law enforcement and ended up pursuing a career in it. He is currently the Chief of Police for Placerville.
He has been a Folsom resident for 12 years. He was originally in the morning club, until Paul invited him to check out our club.
Steve Brozosky was raised in Walnut Creek and is the oldest of his siblings – two sisters. He lived in Pleasanton for 35 years and has worked as a software engineer. He has no college degree, and is self-taught.
He is currently an El Dorado Hills resident. He joined Rotary because he has always done community service and he enjoyed the club, so it was a good fit for him.
Vicki Bencken was raised in Davis and has one younger brother.
She and Rich met online and have been together ever since.
She workes at UC Davis in communications/web/social media.
She has a degree in political science from UC Davis.
She said she joined Rotary after being very involved in RYE.
