President Dave Boldt opened the meeting by leading the Pledge of Allegiance. Bob Mutchler led us in a very good rendition of "My Country Tis of Thee" and Bob Mange gave the Invocation.
Monika Reyes reported that the Folsom Rotary Foundation had donations of just under $1,000 in the Big Day of Giving as of 6:23pm. She had an IPad with her and offered help to anyone with a smartphone to make their donation at/after the meeting. She encouraged members who had not donated to do so at home and encourage non-Rotarians to give.
President Dave asked that members who have not donated to The Rotary Foundation this Rotary year to do so in the next two months. His goal is to be a 100% giving club to The Rotary Foundation.
May 17, the day before the District 5180 Conference, is a district wide service project. The project is packaging meals for Rise Against Hunger. For information on the event and to register, go to
D5180 Meal Packaging Event.
Bill Hutto thanked the 10 Folsom Rotarians who attended the PlayMakers Fund-Raiser.
Garry Parlier introduced the program for the evening, the Folsom High Interact Club, starting with Club Advisors Eric Yoder and Nicole Estrada. Each of the officers in attendance introduced themselves and talked about their responsibilities in the club. He also asked each of them to talk about what the club meant to them, where the graduating seniors were going to school, etc. The club has 178 members and about 140 are active in club projects. The club has put in 1600 volunteer hours this year at 13 events. The most well attended event was the California International Marathon where over 100 members volunteered even though they had to be at the event at 4:30 am on the first Sunday in December. Garry also presented Eric and Nicole with their stipend checks and President Dave presented Eric with a Paul Harris Fellow Recognition Award. President Dave presented the box of Snook's chocolate to the students this year instead of giving the chocolate to the advisors.
