The start of the meeting was hi-jacked from President Dave Boldt when several members started the pledge of allegiance before President Dave was ready to ring the bell.  They went on to sing the club's traditional opening song.  Bob Mange gave us the invocation.

 

President Dave announced an event on Saturday, September 8 for Rotarians to learn what is being taught to students in our District through our Human Trafficking Project.  It is for Rotarians and their guests to give insight into the work our District is doing in our community.  The training will be given by 3Strands Global Foundation from 8:30 AM to Noon at the Fulton El Camino Park District Auditorium, 2201 Cottage Way, Sacramento.  Attendance is free but you need to sign up online at PROTECT Training for Rotarians.

 

Rob Cline asked for volunteers to work at Folsom Live, September 22, 2 shifts.  If you can work the event, contact Rob.

 

President Dave inducted Ian Cornell into the club.  He was sponsored by Samatha Davidson.  He is president of the Cornell Group which, according to their website, serves the public relations, advertising and marketing communications needs of a diverse group of clients.  He was accompanied at the meeting by his son, Nathan.

 

 

There were no fines.

 

Andrew Vierra introduced our speaker, Brian Wallace.  Brian wrote and illustrated the children's book, Daisy and the Dirty Dozen.  He discussed how he came to write the book and his experiences in getting it published.  The book is about a duck that landed in his pool and made Brian's backyard the location to hatch 12 ducklings.  He self-published the book after being rejected by three publishers.  The book is available on Amazon and at Barnes and Noble.  For more information on the book and to see videos of the ducks, go to Daisyandthedirtydozen.com.
