Meeting Notes from Sept. 6, 2018

Rotarians Andrew Vierra and Joe Hoffman unofficially led the Pledge of Allegiance. President Dave Boldt opened the meeting after. Bob Mange said a prayer.

Secretary Jim Padgett welcomed guests.

President Dave made an announcement about a letter scam through Club Runner from the District Governor asking for $21,000. He said everything should be fixed. Just in case, ignore it.
President Dave also made an announcement about the Flying Samaritans, and encouraged people to sign up if they’re interested.

Justin Raithel assessed fines.

(Left) Jerry Avila and (Right) Nick Gibson received their blue badges!

This club meeting was specifically for a Club Assembly.

Here are some highlights:
  • Secretary Jim mentioned the issue with billing. If you did not receive your monthly invoice, please contact him and he will get you squared away.
  • Paul Bonaventure talked about the foundation.
  • Scott Moore spoke about the bar. He mentioned there have been different wine/drink choices lately at the bar. If anyone has any suggestions or preferences, please let him or Colnn Miguelgorry know. Scott also mentioned they are looking into doing a specialty drink of the month.
  • Ryan Jantzen talked on community service. He is looking to expand on projects this year, possibly doing one project per month. One idea is to split the city in four parts – north, east, south, west – for projects. If you have any suggestions on what projects the club can work on, please contact him. Ryan also mentioned that for Community Service Day, club will only be working on their project on Sept. 15 (Obviously this is coming out later, so if you went to the project on the 8th sorry!! - RZ) Ryan said they still need more people to sign up, so please contact him ASAP if you’d like to get involved! He mentioned something about constructing an awning at the Twin Lakes Food Bank. Said it will only take 5 minutes, so plenty of time for some blood Mary’s…or mimosas.
  • Bob Flautt talked on International. He said club has a $5,000 budget and so far have donated $1,000 to Flying Samaritans. He said he’s looking to raise some funds for vans, which could cost $10,000-$20,000.
  • Steve Miklos said he was convinced to be on the board after a lot of tequila and will be creating fun where needed. He said the first fun thing will be the mystery trip! He also mentioned the Rotary cruise to Alaska in 2019, a golf tournament, wine tasting (Woohoo!) and camping trips are things to look forward to.
  • Terri Cecchi talked about the speakers’ committee and mentioned we are booked through December. He said if anyone has any suggestions to contact him or anyone on the committee.
