Meeting Notes from May 24, 2018
 
President Paul Bonaventure announced that our $4,000 scholarship was awarded to Drew Kiesow, graduating senior at Folsom High School.
 
Henry Sundermier bought the bar to celebrate his and Jeannie's 44th Wedding Anniversary and that his first Social Security check was deposited on May 23.
 
Steve Miklos reminded everyone of the campout in June.  If you are going to the campout and you haven't signed up, email to Steve at stevem@bentleycares.com.
 
Rich Rider talked about Rotary at the River Cats on June 5.  Although the tickets can be exchanged, the barbeque is only good on June 5.  Bring cash or check payable to Rich to our next meeting, May 31.
 
It was announced that the Wine and Dine Auction took in $19,800.
 
Ken Stuart announced that there will be an election for Folsom Rotary Foundation Trustees at our meeting on June 21.  There are three Trustee positions open.  If you want to be a Trustee, contact President Paul by the second week of June.
 
It was moved, seconded, and passed by the club that we adopt a by-law change allowing Corporate Memberships.  Here is the text of the by-law change.
 
"A Corporate Member shall be a reputable and established business, corporation, institution, or
government entity located in or near the city limits of Folsom.  Corporate members may appoint
up to three (3) designees, one of whom should be a member of the business's executive team.
Designees shall be adult persons of good character and good business, professional, and/or
community reputation who are engaged as full-time employees of the Corporate Member.
Corporate Members as an entity shall pay full dues and fees set forth for corporate membership.
The executive Corporate Members shall pay the monthly meal invoice which may be shared by
all corporate designees except when more than one designee attends a meeting, the additional
designees shall pay for the meal at the meeting they attend.  The election of a Corporate
Member and each of its designees shall follow the procedure for electing Active Members in
Article X Section 1."
 
Rob Ross presented Christie Ross with her first Paul Harris Fellow.
 
 
Bob Flautt introduced our speaker, Janice Johnson.  Janice is a teacher at Vista Del Lago High School.  She talked about a program called "The Student Investment Initiative".  The goal of the initiative is "Empowering Youth - We create grant and training opportunities for students to develop viable leadership, business, and project management skills while partnering with community and business leaders. We do this by empowering youth to identify community issues and solve them in real-world applications."

Janice talked about one of 9 meters that were custom made for PowerHouse Ministeries, Folsom's Hope, and 3 Strands of El Dorado Hills (3 each).  The meters are located where the public can make donations to the three organizations.  For more information on the Initiative, go to their website Invest LOV Inc.
