Meeting Notes from March 22, 2018

President Paul Bonaventure said that the club auction raised over $7,600.  He thanked Doug and Lynette Zezoff for their Tahoe Donner cabin which raised almost half the proceeds of the auction.

Justin Raithel said that Powerhouse Ministries has acquired a house on Fargo Way.  In about a month, the club will have a work party to spruce up the landscaping.  This should be about a 1/2 day project.

Vicki Bencken announced that Rotary Youth Exchange is having a fund-raising luncheon on April 8 from 1 until 4 PM.  It will be held at the Sacramento Ramada Inn at 2600 Auburn Blvd.  Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for students.  Taste culinary samples from around the globe prepared by our exchange students.  Proceeds will fund student expenses at the District Conference.  Donations are welcome!  If you are interested in going or donating, see Vicki.

Trish Saylor said she will have Wine and Dine tickets next week.  Some members have pooled their silent auction money to purchase items for the auction from Adrian Blanco.

President Paul invited Ken and Barbara Stuart to come to the front of the room for Paul Harris Recognition.  Ken received his Paul Harris +5 pin and Barbara received her Paul Harris +2 pin.

Rob Cline announced that the Rotary Club of Folsom, Rotary Club of Historic Folsom, and Rotary Club of Folsom Lake were collectively named Volunteer of the Year by the Folsom Chamber of Commerce at their Awards Luncheon on March 21.  See the video Chamber Awards 2018 Volunteer of the Year on You Tube that was played at the club meeting.

Rob is holding a resolution from the Senate congratulating the Rotary Club of Folsom.

Also at the Chamber luncheon, Adrian Blanco received an award from the Chamber for Emerging Business of the Year 2018.  Check out the video Chamber Awards Emerging Business of the Year on You Tube.

Rob Ross collected fines.  He also recognized Al Stehli who supported breast cancer research recently by purchasing a special Breast Cancer California license plate.  Al did so in loving memory of his wife, Bev, who was a member of our club.  Rob raised over $400 from club members for breast cancer research and matched the donations.

To celebrate his retirement, Rich Rider will buy the bar at the meeting, March 29.

Bob Flautt introduced our speaker, Dan Haverty.  Dan's presentation was on the HART of Folsom program (Homeless Assistance Resource Team).  HART of Folsom assists people in Folsom experiencing homelessness or struggling to improve their lives by providing them with shelter and resources to help them become self-sufficient and gain greater independence.  Click on Folsom Focus with Cristina Mendosa to view the video that Dan shared as part of his presentation.
