Meeting Notes from August 29, 2019
 
President Bob Flautt opened the meeting by leading us in the Pledge of Allegiance followed by Bob Mutchler leading us in song.  Bob Mange gave the Invocation.
 
Secretary Jim Padgett introduced visiting Rotarians and guests.
 
Steve Sprague levied fines.
 
Justin Whitsell, Assistant District Governor, introduced our speaker, District Governor Ray Ward.  He also introduced Stacy Graham as DG Ray's Aide.

DG Ray told us that RI President Mark Maloney's goal this year is to grow Rotary defined by the number of members but also in our service and the impact of our projects. "Our district goal is to help strengthen our clubs by connecting our members and their communities so that we are all inspired to do better things in our communities both locally and internationally."  
 
DG Ray presented the Quiet Rotarian Award to Amber Wheat.

He then presented the Soaring Rotarian Award to Adrian Blanco who unfortunately was not at the meeting.  He then presented his plans for clubs in District 5180'

Marketing continued. 
 
Focus on Membership and the District Rise Against Hunger event at the District Conference.  Rise Against Hunger is a $90,000 project.  Each $75 box is food for one year.
 
DG Ray talked about the District Conference which will be in October.  For more information on the conference, go to Escape to Rotaryville on the District 5180 website.  There is a couple of really funny promotional videos and registration forms.
 
After the meeting, we all gathered for a group photo and "flipped the bird" to cancer for Elise Fong, Past District Governor Glenn Fong's wife.
 
 
 
Murer House Project
 
On Saturday, August 31, twelve Rotarians and one  spouse poured footings for three shade structures in the bocce ball/pizza oven area of the Murer House.  The shade structures will be built on Community Service Day, Saturday, September 21.
