Meeting Notes from January 3, 2019
President Dave Boldt opened the meeting by leading the Pledge of Allegiance and a song. Bob Mange gave the invocation. Jim Padgett introduced guests.
President Dave announced that Rotary District 5180 Foundation received $131,000 in donations for Camp Fire victims. The District wrote checks to the Rotary Clubs of Gridley and Oroville who will oversee the distribution of funds to victims of the fire.
Bob Mange asked for volunteers to assist the Vista High School Decathlon Team on January 16 from 2 until 3:30 PM. The volunteers will assess practice interviews.
Steve Miklos announced that the club auction will be on January 24 and each member is obligated to donate an auction item worth at least $50. He prefers items rather than cash but if you can't come up with an item, he will take $50 cash or check. He also said there is still room on the Alaska cruise in September and that he is working on a campout at Lake Oroville for June 20 to 23.
President Dave thanked everyone for coming to the Christmas Party. He also thanked Kate Gonzalez for the dance performances and the Folsom High School Jazz Band and Choir.
Steve Sprague levied fines.
Bill Hutto introduced Greg Roeszler, "Coach Roz", of Playmakers Character and Leadership Academy. Coach Roz talked about their summer camp which is all summer long and free to the attendees. He introduced Jeremy who was at the camp and is in 4th grade but reading at an 8th grade level thanks to the camp. Jeremy talked about his experiences at camp and recited the Playmakers Creed.
Toby Magarian introduced our speakers from Boy Scout Troop 94, Scout Master Paul Bryant and Senior Patrol Leader Jackson Reid. Our club is the charter organization for Troop 94. Paul and Jackson talked about what the troop has done over the past couple of years.
Jackson talked about one of the camps that the troop attended.
Toby presented a check for $1,500 to Paul as our sponsorship and thank you for their assistance at our Annual Wine and Dine fund-raiser.
