Garry Parlier introduced Eric Yoder, Folsom High School Interact Club Advisor.  Eric asked each of the Interact Officers for this year to introduce themselves and tell us about some of the projects that they have planned for this year.  They recently worked with the Rotary Club of Folsom Lake on an international project, Rise Against Hunger and will walk with us in the Veterans Day Parade on November 11.  They are now working on a project with Powerhouse Ministries called Senior Christmas Care Basket Program.  There will be a collection box at our meetings in November where members can donate items for the baskets.  Suggested items include toiletries, office supplies, kitchen supplies, and small gift items like non-slip socks, lap blankets, or scarfs, etc.

Bill reminded the club members of the Veterans Day Parade on November 11, starting at 9 am from the Target parking lot.  He also honored one of our veterans, Orville Wegat, who was 99 on October 30.

Coach Roz from Playmakers gave us an update on what his organization is doing for at risk kids.  He thanked us for what we have done to support Playmakers.

Andrew Vierra introduced our speaker, Dan Walters.  Dan has been a journalist for nearly 60 years, spending all but a few of those years working for California newspapers.  In 1984, he started writing his column for the Sacramento Bee.  Dan's topic was about changing politics in California over the past several decades.

Busy November

November 2019 has been a busy month for the Rotary Club of Folsom.  On November 2, members painted Santa's sleigh for the Folsom Police Officers Association.  Every year, Santa and Mrs. Claus travel through the neighborhoods of Folsom bringing Christmas Cheer to children and collecting donations of new toys and non-perishable food for the Police Department’s Annual Christmas Food Drive program benefiting  local families in need.

On November 9, members worked at the Powerhouse Ministries Transformation Center painting the kitchen and installing cabinets.

On November 11, our club and the Folsom High School Interact Club marched in the Folsom Veterans Day Parade.
