Meeting Notes from Jan. 31, 2019
President Dave Boldt opened the meeting and led the Pledge of Allegiance. He called on Bob Mutchler to lead a song. Bob Mange said a prayer
Secretary Jim Padgett welcomed guests.
Dave announced that from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 19, Rotary will join the other two Folsom Rotary Clubs for a Pet Festival, so bring your pets.
He thanked a number of Rotarians who came to help label dictionaries.
Chuck Thurman mentioned the Rotary Anne’s Crab Feed and how they needed bartenders for the event.
Steve Miklos announced a couple upcoming fun events. On March 21, there will be a Murder Mystery event that will be catered by Visconti’s. The cruise that takes place Sept. 7-14 still has rooms available. There will be a camp out June 20-23. There will be three house boats and Steve will send out more information soon.
Justin Raithel assessed one fine to Gary Parlier for littering. He lost his brand new hat one time in Lake Tahoe, so he got a new one. See above photo.
Dr. Race Irby and Dr. Sue Barrett received their blue badges.
Mike Curtin introduced the evening’s speakers who sat in a panel and answered questions about taking care of senior parents. All were experts in their field.
Doug Bertsch, with American Reverse Mortgage Group; Connie James, of Smooth Transitions; Maureen Simmons, a senior care consultant; and John DiPiazza, for general questions and help.
  • 41M baby boomers are currently taking care of mom and dad.
  • 61M people in the country will be taking care of their parents by 2022.
  • 31 percent of California will be over the age of 65 next year.
  • By 2022, 35 percent of the country will be over 65 years old.
