Meeting Notes from November 17, 2022

President Ryan Jantzen opened the meeting at 7 pm by leading the Pledge of Allegiance.  Bob Mange gave the Invocation.

Secretary Jim Padgett introduced visiting Rotarians and guests.  We had a contingent of Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Fair Oaks, all of 2 Rotarians although we thought 10 were coming.

President Ryan talked about the Veterans Day Parade.  Thanks to John Messner and Scott Bailey for making the Iwo Jima flag raising on the float.  Interact students acted as the soldiers raising the flag.  Scott also did the Iwo Jima banners on the side of the float listing the historical significance of Iwo Jima.  There was also a banner on the back of the float honoring Andrew Vierra.  Ryan also thanked everyone who walked along side the float and those who rode on the float.  Thanks also to Bill Hutto for driving his truck pulling the float.

Additional photos of the parade are in the Veterans Day Parade photo album on the homepage of our website.

President Ryan announced that our club is teaming up with the Rotary Club of Sacramento for a water project in Honduras.  The project is WASH - Water - Hygiene - Sanitation partnering with WORLD VISION and The Gates Foundation.  Our donation to the project is $5,000.

President Ryan announced that we will have an Oktoberfest in April, 2023.   He asked for members to volunteer to be on the Oktoberfest committee.

There will also be a Cornhole for a Cause in the spring 2023.  President Ryan asked for members to volunteer for that committee as well joining Justin Raithel, Colnn Miguelgorry, and Adrian Blanco.

Third grade dictionaries have been labeled and are ready for distribution starting the first week in December.  Signups will be available at the next meeting, December 1.

Fines on November 10 were just over $2,000.  It was decided at that meeting that the fines will go to COTA.

Joe and Bob Hoffman will be auctioneers at the club auction on December 8.  He asked members to bring something to be auctioned off.  There will be an open bar.  Members were encouraged to bring guests.

Justin Raithel levied fines.

The program was interviews of three members.  Rather than the interviews being conducted live at the meeting, President Ryan interviewed each member before the meeting.  He gave us the answers to the interview questions and we were asked to guess each member from their answers.  The three members were Bill Hutto, Rik Bennett, and Vicki Bencken.  It was a fun exercise.
