The meeting of February 10, 2022 was opened by President Steve Brozosky by leading the Pledge of Allegiance.  I think Garry Parlier led the singing of My Country Tis of Thee.  Bob Mange gave the Invocation. 

 

This meeting was our Valentine Day Celebration and there were many guests.  Secretary Jim Padgett went around the room and asked members to introduce their guests including visiting Rotary Annes.  

 

Joe Gagliardi said the trip to Colima, Mexico will be March 11 to 16.  He said that the project will be remodeling a laundry room into a family room for the girls at the school.  Maureen Gagliardi asked for donations for mattresses for the school.  Donations can be made through the Folsom Rotary Foundation.  Just under $2,000 was collected at the meeting.  Maureen said that the school is not an orphanage but rather like a boarding school.  On Friday night, the students go home and come back to the school on Sunday.

 

Richelle Brooks said that the Partnership for Tomorrow still needs 11 mentors.  She asked that our younger members volunteer if they have not already done so.

 

Third grade dictionaries distribution started on Thursday, February 10 and will last through Monday or Tuesday.  Since we cannot personally hand out the dictionaries, President Steve and Richelle made a video describing what Rotary is.  President Steve showed the video at the meeting.  The cost of the dictionaries was around $10,000 which is shared with the Rotary Club of Historic Folsom.

 

Monika Reyes said that 8 of our 10 female Rotarians have signed up for the Habitat for Humanity Sacramento Women Build on March 26.  She asked again for the male members of our club to support them by making a donation.  You can donate at tinyurl.com/ladyrotarians.

 

Dawn Johnson introduced our speaker, Mike Owen, President and CEO of Crystal Basin Cellars.  Mike's wife, Debi, was also at the meeting.  Their slogan is "The most fun you can have with a glass of wine."  Their main tasting room is at 3550 Carson Road in Camino and they have a tasting room in Folsom at  813-G Sutter Street.  With help from our members, they served four wines for tasting with cheese and chocolate.
