Meeting Notes from November 3, 2022

President Ryan Jantzen opened the meeting at 7 pm by leading the Pledge of Allegiance.  Bob Mange gave the Invocation.

Secretary Jim Padgett introduced guests and visiting Rotarians.

Scott Bailey filled in for Bill Hutto and gave an update on the Veterans Day Parade.  Veterans can ride on the float as there will be chairs for them on it.  The parade starts at 9 am and our float will be positioned in the Home Goods parking lot space #38.  If you are going to walk in the parade or ride on the float, please arrive between 8:15 and 8:30.  The three Rotary Clubs in Folsom and Interact Clubs from Folsom High and Vista Del Lago High will be participating together in parade.  If you have leftover Halloween candy please bring it to add to the candy we already have as we will be handing it out to Veterans, children, and other parade watchers.

Steve Brozosky talked about the game of Rotary-opoly which was put together as a fund-raiser for Polio Plus last year.  After supply issues they finally arrived this year.  Steve gave the game to each of his board members.  He also gave one to Frank Woods.  Frank was not on Steve's board so he bought his own.  In the photo below is Frank, who is seldom in front of the camera, holding his game and Steve.  Thanks to Ramesh Dontha for taking the photo.  "Jail" on the Rotary-opoly board is Folsom Prison and the Warden is Steve.  All the spaces on the board are clubs in District 5180.

Steve also spoke about the Tour de Tucson Bike Ride on November 19, 2022.  Steve, John Messner, Brent Sundahl, and Yvonne Sundahl are riding in the Tour this years for Polio Plus.  If you want to sponsor them, go to Rotary.org and donate to Polio Plus or give a check payable to The Rotary Foundation to John Messner and he will send it in for you.

Richelle Brooks gave us an update on Youth Services.  Third grade dictionaries are here.  The labeling work party is November 16 at 6 pm at Granite School.  The Leadership Conference will be on February 7, 2023 and will include students from both Folsom High and Vista Del Lago High.

Fines were levied by Joe Hoffman and Bob Hoffman.

Jim Ortega introduced our speaker, Jenifer Fenton, Acting CEO for Breathe California.  Jenifer's presentation included the history of the organization and what they do today for clean air in the Sacrament0 Region.  She also spoke about the Breathe California Bike Trek fund-raiser that the Folsom Rotary Team cycled in on October 15, 2022.

President Ryan apologized to Jenifer for not bringing a Rotary Chocolate Wheel to present to her for speaking to the club.  He did say he would get it to her as soon as possible.
