Meeting Notes from March 9, 2023
The meeting was opened by President Ryan Jantzen leading the Pledge of Allegiance. Al Stehli gave the Invocation. Tonight's program was High School Speech Contest.
Secretary Jim Padgett introduced guests and visiting Rotarians with the exception of the Speech Contest contestant's families. They were introduced by the contestants after the contest.
Frank Woods introduced Chris Marsh as our newest member of the club. Frank is Chris's sponsor and has known Chris since he was a baby. President Ryan welcomed Chris into the club and Chris gave us a short speech about himself. He also talked about a history project that he had been thinking for the city that the club could take a look at.

President Ryan reminded the members that the Oktoberfest in June will be on Sunday, June 4 from 3 until 7 pm at the Folsom Community Center. He said we need lots of help in planning and the day of the event with alcohol sales, ticket sales, cooking, and silent auction. If you can help in any of these areas, contact Chairman Frank Ali.
The Folsom Hometown Parade will be in Old Folsom on June 24. President Ryan asked for a volunteer to form a committee for our club to participate.
President Ryan and Club Foundation Co-chair Ken Stuart presented a Paul Harris Fellow +2 pin to Rik Bennett. Correction to last week's Bullegraph. Bob Hoffman and Joe Hoffman each received a Paul Harris Fellow +1 pin, not a first time Paul Harris.

Bob Mange introduced the Speech Contest. He explained the rules and was happy to report that we could applaud each contestant at the end of their speech. We had three contestants from Folsom High School. The theme for the speech is a combination of the RI President's theme and District Governor Karen Cendro's theme, "Imagine Serving Up a Better Tomorrow". Our winner will compete in one of four Semi-Final contests between March 15 and April 26. If she wins, she will compete in the Final contest at the District Conference on May 6 at the Folsom Rotary Clubhouse. The outcome was
- First place - Hibas Lais
- Second place - Daria Ryzhova
- Third place - Mahya Alavi
