President Bob talked to the city about the Folsom Rotary Clubhouse and he was advised that the clubhouse will remain closed through June and probably July as well.  The club is looking into the possibility of having an outdoor meeting sometime soon.

President Bob talked to Sonny at Wildwood BBQ.  She said that she and the staff are doing fine through the stay at home order.

Monika Reyes suggested that members donate to the Folsom Rotary Foundation an amount equal to their obligation of 4 event tickets and a silent auction item for the Wine and Dine since the event was canceled.  The Wine and Dine is the major fund-raiser for the club.

Chuck and Conni Thompson talked about a fund-raiser that is being planned for November 15, 2020 at the Folsom Community Center.  Brian Shul is an inspirational speaker and retired major in the USAF who flew the SR-71 Blackbird aircraft.  Brian will talk about his air force experiences and his photographs of the SR-71 on November 15.  Tickets to this event will be $40 per person.  We will market the event to the public to avoid members having to do the bulk of ticket sales. Two of his books and a poster will be raffled off and his books will be available for purchase.

Steve Sprague answered questions about the coronavirus and quarantine from his "Blog".

Bill Tobin, member of the Rotary Club of El Dorado Hills, gave a presentation on the ShelterBox organization.  ShelterBox is a partner with Rotary and provides emergency disaster relief around the world.  For more information about ShelterBox, go to shelterbox.org.

Our next ZOOM meeting will be on Thursday, May 28 at 7 pm.  Note the time change from 6 pm.  The speaker will be Joe Schiemer, Vietnam War Veteran.  In 1970, Joe Scheimer was a forward air controller in Vietnam when he was recruited for a classified mission – the Secret War in Laos. His talk will focus on his experiences in the Vietnam Way.

President Bob announced that there are 3 nominees for the Folsom Rotary Foundation Board of Trustees.  Joe Gagliardi and John Messner are not seeking another term on the Board.  Rich Pepin, a current member of the Board is a nominee to continue on the Board.  Ramesh Dontha and Rosario Rodriguez are nominees to replace Joe and John.  The election to the Board will occur at the May 28 meeting.
