Meeting Notes from April 6, 2023
The meeting of April 6 was led by Justin Raithel, President-Elect as President Ryan Jantzen was out of town. However, I think the Hoffman Brothers started the meeting by leading the Pledge of Allegiance before Justin got to the front of the room to ring the bell. I think they also led the members singing "God Bless America" and we actually sounded pretty good. Bob Mange gave the Invocation.
Secretary Jim Padgett introduced visitors.
Justin asked members to attend the District 5180 Conference on May 5, 6, and 7 since it is at the Folsom Community Center. You do not need t0 sign up for the entire weekend. You could register and go to the Saturday lunch, Saturday dinner, or Sunday brunch. It is a great opportunity to participate in a conference without having to go out of town. You can view all the activities of the conference on the District 5180 website by going to
District 5180 Conference. Our club is hosting a charity cornhole tournament in the afternoon of May 6 at 2:30. If you want more information, talk to Frank Woods as he is the conference registrar.
Oktoberfest in June is on Sunday, June 4th from 3 pm to 7 pm at the Folsom Community Center. This will be our biggest fund-raiser for this year and everyone in the club needs to participate. We will need members to volunteer for alcohol sales, cooking, ticket sales, and silent auction. If you want to be on the committee, see Frank Ali.
Trudy Nygren, who is Community Service Chair next year. has set up activities that the club will be doing on "Rotary Day of Service for every club in District 5180" on April 15 (family invited). Activities will be mulching at Black Miners Bar, trail day, and arbor day. On April 23 there will be Kayak Klean Up '23 for paddleboarders. Walkers and swimmers are also welcome. On April 29 we will do a Fargo house landscape refresh.
Adrian Blanco levied fines.
Bob Flaut introduced our guest speaker, Kevin Kiley, U. S. Representative for California's 3rd District since 2023. As a new member of Congress, Kevin talked about how it's been going as he was indoctrinated as a new Congressman and how Congress is so different from the California legislature when he represented the 6th district in the California State Assembly from 2016 to 2022. Justin presented the Rotary wheel chocolate from Snook's to Representative Kiley as a thank you gift.
