Meeting Notes July 23, 2026
The meeting of July 23 was brought to order at 7 pm by President John Baciocco. After the club repeated the Pledge of Allegiance, Bob Mange gave the Invocation.
Secretary Jim Padgett introduced guests and visiting Rotarians. Jim also reminded the members that the meeting on Thursday, July 30 is the Fifth Thursday Event at Uncle Charlie's Firehouse and Brew, 805 Leidesdorff Street from 6 pm to 8:30 pm.
Samantha Davidson invited members to participate in the Sac Century Challenge on Saturday, October 3 and help celebrate Ryan Jantzen's birthday.
Samantha is the Chairperson for the Oktoberfest fund-raiser on October 25. We are partnering again this year with the Rotary Club of Folsom Lake. She asked members to work on getting sponsorships and donating a silent auction item.
Acme Lighting Inc. came out of retirement and decorated Ken Stuart's home in celebration of his successful cochlear implant for hearing. Good news Ken!
District Governor Elect Ryan Jantzen and President John presented two Paul Harris pins. Henry Sundermier received a Paul Harris +3 pin and President Elect Vicki Bencken received a Paul Harris +7 pin. Each pin recognizes an additional $1,000 donation to the Rotary Foundation.
President John said we would be doing multiple projects on Community Service Day, September 19. Conni Thompson said that one of the projects is to spread bark at the Rotary Clubhouse and Chuck Thompson said that another project will be at Mt. Olive Church installing a swing set for Folsom's Hope. We may also paint a shade structure at Mt. Olive Church and do some landscaping in front of the Folsom Zoo.

Samantha introduced our speaker, Eric Ross. Eric's talk was about Effie Yeaw Nature Center: 50 Years of Wonder. At the conclusion of his talk, President John presented to Eric a box of chocolate from Snook's that includes a chocolate Rotary Wheel.
