Meeting Notes from April 24, 2025
 
The meeting was opened by President Ramesh Dontha at 7 pm. Jerry Avila led the Pledge of Allegiance and Bob Mange gave the Invocation.
 
Get to Know Your Fellow Rotarian member spotlight featured Joe Gagliardi. His profile can be accessed here.
 
Secretary Jim Padgett introduced guests. and visiting Rotarians. Joe Gagliardi bought the bar. 
 
President Ramesh announced that the following club Rotarians were recognized for their community service at Community Awards on April 23. Ambassador of the Year was awarded to Solomon Chis, Charlie Grows was named Folsom Pro Rodeo Grand Marshal, and Wall of Fame Award was awarded to Will Kempton.
 
President Ramesh thanked the Rotarians who worked on the cleanup project at Candy Miller's house on April 19.
 
Jim Ortega asked for volunteers to work at the Folsom High School Sober Grad night. Volunteers can work at the party and/or setup and/or take down decorations. If you can volunteer, contact Jim.
 
Scott Bailey said that the water is really cold at the Mystery Trip so come prepared. 49 people have registered for the Mystery Trip so there is still space available. To register, go to Mystery Trip on our website. 
 
President Ramesh reminded the members of the trip to see the River Cats on May 29. If you want to go, register at River Cats Game on our website.
 
President Ramesh talked about donating to the Rotary Foundation. He encouraged every member to donate at least $25 to the Foundation so that our club can be recognized as an EREY (Every Rotarian Every Year) Club. He shared the following slide showing how easy it is to donate to the Rotary Foundation.
 
 
Doug Burton, President of the Folsom Rotary Foundation announced that we need to elect two members to the Foundation Board as Trustees of the Board. Doug sent an email to all members on April 28 explaining the responsibilities of the Trustees and who they currently are. If you would like to be a Trustee, contact Doug. There will be an election for the two Trustees at our meeting on Thursday, May 21.
 
Jim Ortega levied fines.
 
Jim introduced our speakers, Kathy Severson and Kristen Dean. Kathy is a Senior Development Officer at Habitat for Humanity and Kristen is a Volunteer Coordinator at Habitat for Humanity. Kathy gave us an overview of what Habitat for Humanity does, including the current development of 10 homes in Folsom. Kristen talked about what volunteers do to assist in building homes for Habitat for Humanity.
 
President Ramesh presented a chocolate Rotary Wheel from Snook’s to Kathy. Kristen is at the podium.
