Meeting Notes from March 20, 2025
 
The meeting of March 20 was opened by President Ramesh at 7 pm. Chuck Thurman led the Pledge of Allegiance and Solomon Chis gave the Invocation.
 
Get to Know Your Fellow Rotarian member spotlight featured Rik and Paula Bennett. Their spotlight can be accessed here.
 
Secretary Jim Padgett introduced guests and visiting Rotarians.
 
Secretary Jim thanked Paul Bonaventure for buying the bar to celebrate his son Chris's promotion to Lieutenant with the Berkeley Police Department.
 
President Ramesh then inducted two new members into the club.
 
 
 
New member Tara Abraham was introduced by her sponsor Olga Garton and was inducted by Assistant District Governor Ryan Jantzen. Tara Abraham is an undergraduate from UC Davis with a degree in Communication. Tara is currently working as a Digital Marketer with a Metal Coating company in Rancho Cordova. 
 
Tara was a Rotaract member at UC Davis and was also the President of Interact Club at her High School. Tara's Dad, George Abraham, was the past President at American River Rotary Club and she participated in many Rotary events at her Dad's club and gave many speeches at that club. She was also a judge in Rotary Speech Contests. Tara is also a member of Toastmasters for six years and was a three-time Area speech contest winner. Tara enjoys fellowship and community service projects with other Rotarians and would like to help bring additional young members into the Rotary Club.
 
 
Returning member Pat Geary was introduced by Membership Chair John Baciocco and inducted by President Ramesh. Pat is a former member of the club and past President as well. Pat is retired and was in the financial services industry.
 
  
 
President Ramesh mentioned that our club along with Rotary club of Historic Folsom (Morning) completed the distribution of approximately 1,100 dictionaries in 13 Folsom schools and thanked Rach Pepin who was in charge of the project and all the volunteers for making it possible . Justin mentioned that he got an email about the positive impact of the dictionary on a student and it was really heartwarming. The email is attached above.
 
President Ramesh mentioned an initiative 'Lace up for Charity' started by 5 Freshmen from Vista Del Lago to help under-resourced classrooms by raising funds with a charity run. Please support the initiative if you can. The QR code is in the image below. Or let Ramesh know if you have any questions.
 
 
Scott Bailey talked about the Mystery trip on May 15 and the registration link sent out to all members. 34 members already registered for the event and only 22 more seats are left in the bus. First come first served so RSVP right away if you are interested. 
 
5th Thursday in May - River Cats ball game outing - Matt Sundermier is planning an outing on May 29 for 5th Thursday. He sent out a registration email with 2 options, $30 per person for self-drive OR $50 per person for van/bus pooling. Please RSVP with the registration link. 
 
Fine Master Jim Ortega administered the fines.
 
Scott Bailey then introduced the speaker Luz Maria Robles, Public Information Officer, Mosquito and Vector control board. Scott came well protected as a mosquito was bothering him that evening :-)
 
The speaker Luz Maria Robles talked about "Fight the Bite and mosquito control matters. President Ramesh then thanked the speaker and presented her with Rotary Snooks chocolate.
