Rotary Club of Folsom Meeting - May 14, 2026
What better way to celebrate than with a hosted bar? The Rotary Club of Folsom kicked off the May 14 meeting in festive fashion as the club celebrated being recognized as Rotary District 5180 Large Club of the Year! Congratulations to everyone who helps make our club such a vibrant, service-driven force in the community.
President Scott opened the meeting by leading the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a thoughtful invocation from Bob Mange. Secretary Jim welcomed guests, and Paul Bonaventure kept us all on our toes with the fines.
We were pleased to welcome guest speakers MacKensie Jones and Kellie Dobson from the City of Folsom, who delivered an engaging and informative presentation on recycling, waste management, and services available to Folsom residents.
From what goes in the blue recycling bin to what belongs in the green waste bin (yes—food scraps too!), we learned more about how Folsom is working to reduce waste and improve sustainability. They also highlighted household hazardous waste disposal options and reminded residents that Folsom households receive three free bulky waste pickups per year—a great resource for clearing out unwanted large items responsibly.
Jim Ortega shared an important update about Folsom High School’s Sober Grad Night 2026, and volunteers are still needed! This long-standing community event provides graduating seniors with a safe, fun, and memorable way to celebrate graduation. Volunteer opportunities are available for a variety of shifts from Thursday, May 28, 2026 through the early morning of Friday, May 29. If you can lend a hand, please contact Jim Ortega.
The Rotary Clubs of Folsom are proud to host an upcoming blood drive, and we would love your support! Every blood donation has the potential to save multiple lives, and the need remains constant. Donating blood is a simple yet meaningful way to help patients facing surgeries, cancer treatments, accidents, and other medical emergencies.

Chief Green has dedicated his career to public service and law enforcement, bringing years of leadership experience to the Folsom Police Department. As Police Chief, he oversees public safety initiatives, community partnerships, and department operations while working to strengthen relationships between law enforcement and the community. We look forward to hearing his insights on public safety, policing in Folsom, and the priorities shaping the department’s future.
