Meeting Notes from November 4, 2021
 
President Steve Brozosky opened the meeting at 7 pm by leading the Pledge of Allegiance.  Bob Mange gave the Invocation.  
 
Secretary Jim Padgett introduced visiting Rotarians and guests.  President Steve introduced our special guests: Desiree Wilson, District Governor; Sherie Tobin, Assistant District Governor; and Karen Cendro, District Governor Elect.
 
President Steve called for the election for President of our club for 2023/2024.  The Past President Nominating Committee nominated Steve Sprague.  Ramesh Dontha moved and Olga Garton seconded that since Steve is the only candidate, that he be elected our President for 2023/2024 by acclamation.  Congratulations Steve!
 
Justin Raithel reminded everyone of the Holiday Lights installation project on Saturday, November 6 at the Folsom Zoo and the continuation of the roof project at Lew Howard Park on the same day.  The Lew Howard Park roof project will continue on Saturday, November 13 and the installation of the accessible equipment at Lembi Park will be on Sunday, November 14.
 
Ramesh introduced his guest, Subbanna Chenna.  Ramesh announced that Subbanna is donating approximately $65,000 to the Folsom Rotary Foundation.  $15,000 of the donation can be used by the club for community projects and $50,000 of the donation is to be used for an educational project in India.  As things develop on this marvelous donation, additional information will be shared.

Conni Thompson announced that 618 tickets have been sold for the Brian Shul event.  Chuck Thompson talked about getting sponsors for the event and talking to potential sponsors about the money going to Wounded Warriors and the Folsom Rotary Foundation.  President Steve thanked Conni and Chuck for their work on this project.  He also reminded the members of the Rotary Anne Silent Auction and raffle tickets.  59 tickets have been purchased for veterans.

Assistant DG Sherie introduced DG Desiree.  Desiree told us that the District 5180 Conference this Rotary year will be at the Montbleu Casino, Resort, and Spa in South Lake Tahoe on April 29 to May 1, 2022.  Keynote speakers will be Adrienne Bankert, Father Boyle, and Past District Governor Wade Nomura.  On Friday night, there will be a dinner cruise available on the M. S. Dixie sailing on Lake Tahoe.  On Saturday morning, there will be a Polio Plus Walk.  Desiree also talked about the Ride to End Polio.  She was planning to do the 100 mile ride but unfortunately had a bike accident recently on a training ride.  However, she is planning to still go to Tucson to support the cyclists from our district.  Desiree also named Justin Raithel the Folsom Rotary Super Hero.
 
President Steve presented District Governor Desiree with the Rotary Wheel chocolate from Snook's.
 
 
Roofing Project at Lew Howard Park
 
On Saturday, November 6, 2021, Rotarians were back at work on the pavilion roof at Lew Howard Park.  Thanks to Ramesh Dontha for taking photos which have been added to the Photo Album on our website at park pavilion roof.  Check out the photos to see how much progress was made.
 
District 5180 Rotary Foundation Dinner
 
On Saturday, October 30, 2021, 9 Folsom Rotarians and 6 partners were in attendance at the Rotary Foundation Dinner.  The dinner is a celebration of the previous Rotary year, 2020/2021.  The Rotary Club of Folsom was the top club for PolioPlus Giving with a total of $23,270 and the top club for Per Capita PolioPlus Giving of $277 per member.  Immediate Past President Monika Reyes accepted the awards for her year as President.  John Messner had the winning bid on a large bottle of wine.
 
 
It was a great evening with an opportunity to see many Rotarians from around the district after the past two years of COVID.
