President Bob Flautt opened the meeting by leading the Pledge of Allegiance and an opening song.  Bob Mange gave the Invocation.

 

Monika Reyes reported that 30 teams participated in the Corn Hole for a Cause which raised over $3,000.  She thanked Justin Raithel and Colnn Miguelgorry for their work on putting together this fund-raiser.  She thanked Doug Burton for cooking burgers and hot dogs all day.  She also thanked Patricia Saylor, Amber Wheat, and Dawn Williams for working at the event all day.  There were Rotary teams and we had good community participation.

Thanks to Powerhouse Ministries sharing and supporting this event, we were proud to present a $1600 donation for the Ignite Leadership College at Powerhouse Ministries to Rick Cogil.

 

John Messner announced that the Folsom Rotary Cycling Team raised over $8,000 to support the Ride to End Polio at the Tour de Tucson.  With the Gates Foundation match, the donation to the Rotary Foundation was about $25,000.

 

Christie Watrous reminded the members of the Rotary Ugly Sweater Christmas Party on December 19 at the Folsom Community Center.  If you can help Christie setting up at the community center, give her a call.

Jim Ortega introduced our speaker, Folsom Cordova Unified School Superintendent, Dr. Sarah Koligian who gave us an update on the district and in particular, schools in Folsom.

 

 

President Bob presented a box of Snook's chocolate to Dr. Koligian for speaking to our club.

 

 

Rotarians Rosario Rodriguez, Samantha Davidson and Ian Cornell represented the Rotary Club of Folsom at Kate and Bobby Gonzalez's "Arthur Murray Folsom Royal Holiday Ball." The event raised money for Alzheimer's research and $1,410 for the Folsom Rotary Foundation. Thanks for the generous donation.
