March 19, 2026 Meeting

President Scott opened the meeting and led the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by an invocation from Bob Mange. Fine Master Jim Ortega kept the room lively, delivering fines with a creative flair that had members laughing. Secretary Jim then introduced our guest speaker, Licia Green, who also welcomed the many visiting Rotarians joining us from the Rotary Club of Orangevale.

A special highlight of the meeting was Ken and Barb Stuart buying the bar in celebration of both of their 80th birthdays this year. The club enjoyed celebrating this wonderful milestone with them.

Our guest speaker, Licia Green, delivered an inspiring presentation. Licia has served as the Director of Development for the CCHAT Center for 17 years and is an active member of the Rotary Club of Orangevale. Inspired by her personal journey as a parent of two children with profound hearing loss, she has dedicated her career to helping children who are deaf and hard of hearing learn to listen and speak.

In addition to her work with CCHAT, Licia also serves as a board member of the Planned Giving Forum of Greater Sacramento, where she collaborates with professionals to advance legacy giving and create long-term impact for nonprofit organizations. Her message highlighted the power of advocacy, perseverance, and the opportunities that can open when communities come together in support of children and families.

Rotary Reflection

This week’s meeting was a meaningful reminder of how personal experiences can shape a life of service. Licia Green shared a story that began with her family’s journey and grew into a mission that now helps children who are deaf and hard of hearing develop communication skills and confidence.

Rotary brings together people with different backgrounds, professions, and life stories, yet those experiences often become the foundation for work that benefits the wider community. Programs like the work being done at CCHAT show how dedication, compassion, and persistence can open doors for others.

Moments like this highlight one of the most powerful aspects of Rotary — individuals turning purpose into action and creating opportunities that reach far beyond a single story.
