President Ryan suggested a project at Twin Lakes Food Bank.  They need a new shed as their shed was destroyed in the storms.  He said this was a great service opportunity for the club to step up and build a new shed.

Jim Ortega introduced our speaker, Executive Director Salwa Kasabian of Folsom's Hope.  Salwa has sp0ken to the club a few times since she founded Folsom's Hope at Theodore Judah Elementary School in 2008.  Salwa explained why and how Folsom's Hope started when her three children were placed at Theodore Judah located in one of the city's lowest-income neighborhoods.  As stated in their website and repeated by Salwa at the meeting, "Folsom is a prosperous city where family, community, service and generosity are strongly held values. But in the midst of this prosperity there is also great need. Families are broken. Parents are caught in the grip of destructive behavior. And children bear the consequence."  Folsom's Hope serves these children by STARS After School Programs, Mentoring, and Volunteering to help these children.  Salwa brought us up to date on what the organization is doing for the community and plans for the future.  For more information about Folsom's Hope, go to Folsom's Hope

President Ryan remembered the speaker's gift this week and presented it to Salwa.
