Meeting Notes from October 21, 2021
 
President Steve Brozosky opened the meeting at 7 pm by leading the Pledge of Allegiance.  Bob Mange gave the Invocation.
 
Secretary Jim Padgett announced guests and visiting Rotarians.
 
President Steve said that October 24 is World Polio Day.  President Steve and John Messner will be doing the "Ride to End Polio" in Tucson, Arizona on November 20, 2021 to raise money to fight polio.  Support their effort to rid the world of polio FOREVER by clicking on this link to donate by November 30; https://bit.ly/folsompolio.  All donations will be matched by our district, RI World Fund, and the Gates Foundation.  For example, a $100 donation = $750 after all the matches!  Your donation will be credited to your Rotary Foundation donor account.
 
October 28 is our Halloween meeting.  There will be a costume contest (costumes are optional).  Family and friends are invited.  Drew Garrison will do a whiskey tasting of 3 international single malt scotches. 
 
Kate Gonzales announced an International Service Project that we are doing with Folsom High Interact Club members, Water Pasteurization Indicator Project (WAPI).  On Saturday, November 13 from 10 am to 1 pm,  the Interactors will be assembling the indicators at Granite School.  Kate asked for 5 to 7 volunteers to work with them.  Here is a photo of the devise:
 
 
Justin Raithel announced that the Lew Howard roofing project will start on Saturday, October 30 at 9 am.  The first phase of the project is to remove the old roof.  Lembi Park Accessible Equipment Install will be on Sunday, November 14. Installing holiday lights at the Folsom Zoo will be on December 6 from 9 am until noon.
 
Chuck Thompson announced that Brian Shul ticket sales are going fast and suggested that members get theirs as soon as possible.  An ad is coming out in the next Style magazine.
 
President Steve asked members who do not have a photo in ClubRunner to upload a photo of themselves.  Best photo is a head shot like a passport photo.  This is a great way for members to learn the names of their fellow members.
 
Steve Sprague levied fines.  Steve said that he is the chair of the Veterans Day Parade.
 
Jim Padgett introduced our speaker, Chris Nelson, a pilot for Flying Samaritans.  The Flying Samaritans have a monthly trip to a village in Mexico to provide eye care, dental services, medical services, and to provide help for mental issues.  Jim, John Messner, and Dave Boldt are volunteers who have been on flights to Mexico.  John talked about how rewarding the experience is of helping these people in Mexico.
