Meeting Notes from August 15, 2024

The meeting of August 15 was opened by President Ramesh Dontha leading the Pledge of Allegiance. Bob Mange gave the Invocation.
Secretary Jim Padgett introduced visitors. We had two special visitors, Samyak Salgiya who received our 2023 Folsom High scholarship, and Divua Rao who was in Folsom High Interact. Samyak is going to Boston University and Divua is going to UCLA.

Frank Woods talked about the backpacks loaded with school supplies that were delivered to Folsom High and Vista del Lago High on August 6. The backpacks are for students that cannot afford to purchase them. Frank received an email yesterday from Michael Adorjan, Academic Counselor at Folsom High thanking us for the backpacks and said they already gave out a backpack to a new student.
Olga Garton talked about the school supplies that were purchased by the club and with funds that were donated by members for school supplies and school supplies that were donated by members. Those school supplies were delivered to the Folsom-Cordova District Office for distribution to the schools.
Frank Ali talked about the Oktoberfest on Sunday, October 27. Our club is responsible for selling 250 tickets. Jay Alling asked members to get sponsorships.
District Governor Steve Turner will be the program at our August 22 meeting. Spouses and partners are invited to attend.
President Ramesh reminded members of the following events:
- August 29, fifth Thursday special event at Folsom Lake Bowl. 30 people had already signed up.
- Powerhouse Ministries fundraiser on August 24 - Have Mercy Band at Crawdads on the Lake from 9 to 11:30 pm.
- Folsom Community Service Day September 21. Our club is planting daffodil bulbs on Sutter Street.
- Public Service Appreciation Luncheon on September 12 at noon at the Folsom Community Center. No evening meeting.
President Ramesh asked Rotary Foundation co-chairs Len and Cathy Hundshamer to present a Paul Harris +8 pin to Doug Zezoff.

John Baciocco introduced our speaker Molly Shea, from Nimbus Fish Hatchery. Molly's presentation was "A Salmon and Steelhead Journey to the Fish Hatchery".
President Ramesh presented a Chocolate Rotary Wheel from Snook's to Molly for her presentation.
