President Steve Brozosky opened the meeting at 7 pm.  Bob Mange gave the invocation followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.  

 

Secretary Jim Padgett introduced guests including Katie Freeman, Regional Manager for Playmakers.

 

President Steve thanked Candy Miller for buying the bar in memory of Bob Miller's January birthday.

 

Our next Community Service project will be on Saturday, July 24 at 8am.  The project is re-roofing the pavilion at Lew Howard Park.  It will start with the removal of the old roof.

 

The club has a future project lined up at Lembi Park.  The club will install fitness stations at the park with a $5,000 District 5180 grant, $5,000 from the city, and $20,000 from club project funds.

 

The November Fundraiser with Brian Shul will be at the Harris Center on Sunday, November 28.

 

President Steve talked about Rotary International, the Rotary Foundation, our club, and the Folsom Rotary Foundation, highlighting the differences between each of these entities.  He said the goal for the club is for each member to donate $25 or more to the Rotary Foundation Annual Giving Fund in order to reach the club goal of $8,500 to Annual Giving.  He said the club has another goal of $100 or more per member to Polio Plus in order to reach the club goal of $16,000 to PolioPlus.  Donations can be made to the Rotary Foundation for Annual Giving and Polio Plus through my.rotary.org or you can give your checks payable to the Rotary Foundation to Sue Barrett.

Rosario Rodriguez, who was not at the meeting, was recognized for becoming a member of the PolioPlus Society.  Rosario has pledged to donate at least $100 annually to PolioPlus until polio is eradicated.

 

Past President Monika introduced our speaker, Greg Rooszler (Coach Roz), who updated us on the activities of the Playmakers organization.  The Mission of Playmakers is that "Playmakers enhances the lives of all kids and families through inclusive sports, community service and life-long relationships."  Coach Roz emphasized the inclusiveness of special needs children in the program through his presentation.
