The ZOOM meeting of May 28 was convened by President Bob Flautt at 7 pm.  There were 24 participants online.  Amber Wheat's mother joined us as a guest.

 

President Bob talked to Ted Acampo at the city and reported that the Folsom Rotary Clubhouse will be closed until the end of June.  Since Sacramento County's orders are no groups greater than 10 can meet, the club cannot use Lew Howard Park for a meeting.

 

Justin Raithel presented a check for $2,000 from the Folsom Rotary Foundation to the Twin Lakes Food Bank.

 

 

The Rotary Club of Folsom is sponsoring a live stream on Folsom TV of the Vista Del Lago graduation on May 29.  The sponsorship was $900.

 

Bob announced that the nominees for the three Board of Trustee positions on the Folsom Rotary Foundation Board are Rich Pepin, Rosario Rodriguez, and Ramesh Dontha.  Ian Cornell moved and Doug Burton seconded that the three nominees be unanimously elected to the Board of Trustees.  Carried.  President Bob thanked John Messner and Joe Gagliardi for their years of service on the Board of Trustees.

 

Steve Sprague answered questions about the quarantine from his quarantine blog.

 

President Bob introduced our speaker, Joe Schiemer, whose topic was "The Secret War in Laos".  Joe is a member of the Rotary Club of Fair Oaks and is Assistant District Governor of Area 4.  If you missed Joe's presentation, you can see a video of an interview with Joe Scheimer as part of the Secret War Oral History Project in the Elk Grove School District.  Here is the link to the video - Secret War.  Joe was also interviewed on KVIE when Ken Burn's documentary on the War in Vietnam was on Channel 6 a few years ago.  Here is the link to that video - KVIE.

 

Rich Pepin asked for assistance to remove the Interact bench at Folsom Lake High School.  If you can help Rich, give him a call.
