Meeting Notes from June 11, 2026

President Scott Bailey opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance at 7 pm and Jay Alling gave the Invocation.

Secretary Jim Padgett introduced guests and visiting Rotarians.

District Governor Nominee Ryan Jantzen and President Scott presented Alex Prime with a Paul Harris Fellow Recognition.

President Scott announced that the club is actually at 75% EREY. He again asked the members who have not donated to the Rotary Foundation this Rotary year to do so by June 30 so our club will be 100% Every Rotarian Every Year. It only takes a minimum $25 donation to the Rotary Foundation. Give a check payable to The Rotary Foundation to Len Hundshamer and he will submit it to the foundation. Otherwise, you can donate by logging onto rotary.org and, if you have a "My Rotary" account, login and donate. If you don't have an account, you can click on the DONATE button on the right side of the website and fill in all the information by scrolling down. It will automatically highlight "Annual Fund Share". Continue scrolling down and continue as guest. Under club information, input Folsom as the club and club number 526. Submit your credit card information and you are done. If you need help, contact Len.

President Elect John Baciocco asked members to please fill out the survey. Only 20% came back so he is sending it out again and asking the other 80% to PLEASE fill it out and return it. He announced that the July 18 meeting will be "Meet the President" at a great fun meeting instead of a Club Assembly. He said that Samantha Davidson is leading the Oktoberfest this year and it is only 4 months away. He asked for volunteers to join her committee and help get sponsors for the event.

On June 9, our club hosted a New Member Social. 15 new members who joined in the past couple of years attended. Thanks to Rob Ross, Ryan Jantzen, Samantha Davidson, Vicki Bencken, Rich Rider, and John Baciocco for hosting the event.

Ramesh Dontha reminded the members of President Scott's demotion on June 25 at the Folsom Community Center from 6 pm until 10 pm. If you plan to go but haven't registered, go to demotion on our website.

Chuck Thompson announced that there are only 5 bottles of whiskey left. Conni Thompson said they were going to Orangevale Rotary on Friday and expect those bottles to be sold. The club has earned about $11K from whiskey sales. Chuck and Conni also passed out flyers for the Hometown Parade and Cattle Drive on Sutter Street July 1 starting at 7 pm.

Jim Ortega levied fines.

President Scott welcomed Rik Bennett back from surgery.

DGN Ryan introduced our speakers, Doug Barnett and Desiree Patterson. Fostering Success and Significance (FSS) is a nonprofit organization founded by Doug and Robin Barnett to support foster youth as they navigate their college years and successfully transition into the workforce. Doug talked about the organization and the problems that foster children face when they "foster out" of the system. Desiree gave us her story growing up in foster homes and how much FSS helped her "foster out" of the system and recently graduate from Sac State. If you missed the meeting or would like to learn more about this fantastic organization, click on fosteringss.org. President Scott presented a box of chocolates to Desiree.
