Meeting Notes October 15, 2026

The meeting of October 15 was brought to order at 7 pm by President John Baciocco. Joe Gagliardi led the Pledge of Allegiance and Bob Mange gave the Invocation.

Secretary Jim Padgett introduced visitors and visiting Rotarians.

Just before the meeting the Blood Drive out in the parking lot closed and we had a good turnout.

President John went over Upcoming Events and Dates.

District Governor Nominee Ryan Jantzen presented a Paul Harris Fellow +3 pin to Cathy Hundshamer.

Our club is sponsoring a Rotaract Club in the making at Folsom Lake College.

Colnn Miguelgorry thanked the members for volunteering to sell beer at the Renaissance Faire. He said that this year was very successful in selling lots of beer, mead, and water. The weather was perfect and the crowds were greater than in previous years.

Henry Sundermier passed around a sign-up sheet for the Folsom Zoo Wild Nights and Holiday Lights Event. The dates are Saturday, November 7 from 9 am to noon for hanging lights, Saturday, December 12 for caroling, and Saturday, January 9 for taking down lights starting at 9 am.

Bill Hutto reported on the Veterans Day Parade. There will be two flyovers during the parade. He also asked that your excess Halloween candy be donated to the club and that it will be passed out during the parade.

Samantha Davidson reminded the members that Oktoberfest is just 10 days out. Tickets are trickling in but we need more sales. Also, we are still in need of volunteers. If you haven't signed up to help make the Oktoberfest a success, sign up at our meeting on October 22.

Chuck Thompson said we will still take donations for the Rotary Flag Legacy Project and that the donations will go to maintaining the flags.

The "Two Truths and a Lie" members this week were John Messner and Rob Ross.

Jim Ortrega levied fines.

Rich Rider introduced our Rotary Youth Exchange (RYE) student from Switzerland, Amelie Mader. Rich talked about how wonderful the RYE Program is and how much he and Vicki have enjoyed hosting students. He encouraged members to come forward and host a student. Amelie talked about her home in Switzerland, her family, her friends, and her activities including downhill skiing, sailing in her family's sailboat, and riding her own motorcycle. She also talked about living in Folsom, attending school, RYE activities, and her host family.

At the end of her presentation, President John presented a box of Snook's Chocolate, including a chocolate Rotary Wheel, to Amelie.

Our meeting of October 22 will be a joint meeting with the Rotary Club of Folsom Lake. At our meeting on October 22 we will welcome Kotaro "Taro" Arai as our speaker.
