Meeting Notes August 20, 2026

The meeting of August 20 was brought to order at 7 pm by President John Baciocco. Alex Prime  led the Pledge of Allegiance and Bob Mange gave the Invocation.
 
Secretary Jim Padgett introduced visitors and visiting Rotarians.
 
Rich Rider welcomed our incoming Rotary Youth Exchange student, Amélie from Switzerland. 
 
Her second host father, Toby Magarian, photo bombed the photo because of where he was seated.
 
President John announced that the club will be selling beer at the Folsom Renaissance Faire this year on September 26 and 27.
 
President John reminded everyone of the Blood Drive in October.
 
Samantha Davidson talked about Oktoberfest. She thanked Carlson Insurance Group for a $1,000 sponsorship and donating an 8-person poker night for the silent auction. She also thanked Dale Bourassa, River City Repipe for a $500 sponsorship. Dale also donated a Vulcan Vents and Gutter Guards package ($3,000 value) for the silent auction.
 
 
Community Services Day has more than enough sign-ups for both projects. Conni Thompson said that she would enter the names on the city projects website from the sign-ups sheets.
 
President John announced that the total profit from the two fireworks booths is $24,086. Rotary Annes will be receiving a check for a little over $7,000 for their hours selling fireworks.
 
Chuck Thompson talked about the "Rotary Legacy Flag Project", installing a flagpole and flag in the Historic District. The plan is for the project to be funded by 80% to 90% of the funds coming from the public.  
 
 
The "Two Truths and a Lie" members this week were Vicki Bencken and Jim Padgett.
 
Jim Ortega levied fines.
 
Dawn Johnson introduced our speaker, Folsom Mayor Justin Raithel. Justin talked about current issues facing Folsom. At the end of Justin's presentation, President John presented a box of chocolates from Snook's that includes a chocolate Rotary Wheel.
