Meeting Notes from May 8, 2025
The meeting was opened by President Ramesh Dontha at 7 pm. Rik Bennett led the Pledge of Allegiance and Bob Mange gave the Invocation.
Secretary Jim Padgett introduced guests and visiting Rotarians. Special guests included Al Stehli, his daughter Julie Bailey, and her husband, Chuck . Brian Martell bought the bar to honor Al's birthday, Paul Bonaventure's birthday. and in honor of John Stroud, a longtime Folsom Rotarian who recently passed away. Brian's wife, Valerie, was also a guest at the meeting.
Jim Ortega again asked for volunteers to work at the Folsom High School Sober Grad night. Volunteers can work at the party and/or setup and/or take down decorations. If you can volunteer, contact Jim.
Scott Bailey reminded everyone again of the Mystery Trip on Thursday, May 15.
Doug Burton, President of the Folsom Rotary Foundation again reminded the members that we need to elect two members to the Foundation Board as Trustees of the Board. There will be an election for the two Trustees at our meeting on Thursday, May 22.
President Ramesh again reminded the members of the River Cats game on the fifth Thursday on May, the 29th. Registration is available on our website at

Paul Bonaventure announced that we will have a fireworks stand this year. As he will be fishing in Canada, Chuck Thurman volunteered to go to the fireworks booth training session. Sign-ups will be available shortly. We need all our members to sign-up to work at least one shift at the fireworks stand as it is our biggest fund-raiser. Spouses and partners are welcome to work a shift with you.
President Ramesh announced that John Stroud donated $100,000 to the Folsom Rotary Foundation through his will. Henry Sundermier gave us some insight into John's Rotary experience. Henry also talked about some upcoming projects including gardening this Saturday, May 17 at 10 am and replacing a fence at Twin Lakes Food Bank sometime in the future.
May 8 was Al's birthday which we celebrated with a cake and sang Happy Birthday to him and Paul Bonaventure whose birthday is also May 8. It was great to see Al as he has not been able to attend meetings for quite some time. In the near future he will be moving to Vacaville to be near Julie and Chuck.

Vicki introduced our speaker, Janet Bradley, Animal Control Officer, Animal Services for the City of Folsom. Janet talked about her department services including reuniting lost pets with their owners and how to deal with problem pets and wildlife.
President Ramesh presented a box of chocolates including a chocolate Rotary Wheel from Snookâs to Janet.
