Meeting Notes from June 13, 2024

Past President Ryan Jantzen opened the meeting by leading the Pledge of Allegiance. Bob Mange gave the Invocation. President Justin Raithel was off on a vacation. He emailed to me the following photo and asked if the group can count as a makeup. I told him no.

However, later in the week, the group made up at the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset.

Secretary Jim Padgett introduced guests and visiting Rotarians.

Ryan asked for volunteers to finish the greenhouse on Saturday morning at 7 am and a few members put up their hands.

If you haven't signed up for a shift in the fireworks stand, please go to fireworks shifts and sign up. If every member signs up for one shift, all shifts will be filled.

Signups for working at the rodeo selling beer were sent around the room. There are open spots for the 4th, 5th, and 6th. If you can work a shift, contact Bill Hutto or sign up at the meeting on Thursday, June 20.

As announced at the meeting last week, we are sponsoring the music at Palladio on Friday nights. Support our club by going to Palladio and listening to the bands.

Jim Ortega levied fines.

John Baciocco introduced the speaker, Susan Aimes. Susan talked about the organization that she founded called "Stars and Stripes Dog Rescue". Susan said that they rescue "at risk" shelter dogs and place them into our Prison Obedience Training program. Their mission is to train them to become the highest quality companion and service dogs (at no cost) to military veterans. Their focus is on the many veterans suffering with Post-Traumatic Stress (PTS) or Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD.) For more information go to Stars and Stripes Dog Rescue.

Ryan presented a Snook's chocolate Rotary Wheel to Susan as a thank you for her presentation to the club.

Black Miners Bar Greenhouse Project

Great progress was made on the greenhouse project on Saturday, June 15 although there were only 8 members of our club working. The crew got the panels on 7 sections with 3 to go plus some finishing work. Below is a photo of the members who worked until 11 am. Ramesh Dontha and Fay Nazari left early and are not in the photo.

Chuck Thurman, Toby Magarian, Dan Nitz, John Messner, Will Kempton, and Frank Woods

Additional photos will be added from the June 22 work party and put into a Photo Album on our website.
