Meeting Notes from May 11, 2023
The meeting was opened by President Ryan Jantzen who led the Pledge of Allegiance. Al Stehli led the Invocation.
Secretary Jim Padgett introduced visiting Rotarians and guests. We had guest "singers" from the Rotary Club of Fair Oaks who were at the meeting to tell us about their BBQ fund-raiser on Saturday, May 27th from 5 pm to 9 pm. Music will be provided by Brisco County and food will be provided by Texas Roadhouse.

The club Rotoberfest scheduled for June has been postponed to October.
In addition to the Mystery Trip on May 18, the Folsom High School Interact Club will have their year end barbeque at Lew Howard Park on May 18. If any Rotarian who is not going to the Mystery Trip is available, they could use help cooking.
President Ryan thanked Adrian Blanco for the Cinco de Blanco that Adrian hosted at his jewelry store on Friday, May 5. Proceeds were donated to the Folsom Rotary Foundation. President Ryan also those who volunteered and/or purchased tickets.
The 2024 District Conference will be at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno on May 17 to 19. This conference will be with Districts 5150 and 5190. In 1995-1996, District 5180 split off from District 5190 during President Frank Woods' term.

President Ryan introduced our speakers, Barry Smith with California State Parks and Jim Cassio and Devin Swartwood with FOLFAN. Barry talked about his career as a Park Ranger and then turned the mic over to Jim and Devin to talk about FOLFAN.
Jim talked about what FOLFAN does and the project that they are starting in a couple of weeks. The project is to build a cottage near an old Ranger building and plant a greenhouse and outdoor area with native plants that can be transplanted in the park to replace plants that don't belong in the park. Our club will be working on some of these projects.
