Meeting Notes from October 9, 2025
The meeting of October 16 was opened by President Scott Bailey at 7 pm. President Scott led the Pledge of Allegiance and Bob Mange gave the Invocation. President Scott thanked Chuck Thurman for buying the bar. Chuck, after many years as owner of Golden Bear Pest Control, sold the business to Advanced IPM Pest Control.
Secretary Jim Padgett introduced guests and visiting Rotarians.
John Baciocco talked about the Oktoberfest coming up on October 26. He asked the members to continue selling tickets. Also, if you have tickets that you will not use, give them to someone who will come to the event. If you haven't volunteered to work on Oktoberfest and are available to volunteer to help before and/or during the event, contact John.
President Scott reminded the members about the Halloween Party in two weeks. If you are planning to attend, let Secretary Jim know that you are coming and if you are bringing a guest.
Anna Rohrbough, Youth Services Director, announced that Ryan Jantzen will be the Chair of the Annual Dave West Partnerships for Tomorrow Youth Leadership Conference this year. A date has not been selected yet. Anna asked members to contact her if they would like to help her with Youth Services.
President Scott thanked Bobby Blackwell for the demolition work that he did at Castle Park and his assistance with landscaping at Granite School.
Ramesh Dontha announced that the Past Presidents Nominating Committee met on October 7 and selected Vicki Bencken as their nomination for President of the 2027/2028 Rotary year. 20 of 28 past presidents attended the dinner and the vote for Vicki to be the nominee was unanimous. Vicki accepted the nomination.
Additional nominations may be made from the floor until November 6 provided the nominator has written authorization by the nominee to place his/her name in nomination. Such written approval must be presented to the Secretary prior to the nomination. The election for the 2027/2028 President will be at the meeting on November 6.
President Scott thanked Gary and Sharon Krause for going to Trades Day with him. He also thanked Jennifer Poff and Peter Gallagher at the Buildstrong Academy.
Ryan Jantzen congratulated the 5 graduates from from our club who went to PRLS.
Len Hundshamer talked about Paul Harris Fellow recognition. The Paul Harris Fellow recognition was established in 1957 to show appreciation, to encourage, and recognize substantial contributions to the Rotary Foundation. A Paul Harris Fellow is an individual who has donated $1,000 to the Rotary Foundation or has received a Paul Harris Fellow from someone else who has donated $1,000 to the Rotary Foundation. Paul Harris founded Rotary International in 1905. Len also covered how to make a contribution to the Rotary Foundation by going to

Len received his Paul Harris +1 pin from President Scott.
Henry Sundermier reviewed the schedule of community service projects through the end of the year. Included in the list are volunteer opportunities at the Halloween jail in Pioneer Village. If you can volunteer for the Halloween events, contact Henry.

Tara Abraham introduced our speaker Sheryl Longsworth . Sheryl talked about a community program called Project 680 that assists homeless youth in the Folsom Cordova Unified School District. She described how the program was formed and who the program serves in the community today. If you missed the meeting, you can visit their website at

President Scott presented a box of chocolates from Snook’s including a chocolate Rotary Wheel to Sheryl for speaking to us.
Rotary Club of Folsom Members Strengthen Leadership Skills at PRLS
The Rotary Club of Folsom was well represented at the two-day Practical Relevant Leadership Skills (PRLS) seminar on October 11 and 12! Members John Baciocco, Vicki Bencken, Samantha Davidson, Tara Abraham, and Khari Nelson took part in the interactive leadership training, joined by our own Assistant Governor Ryan Jantzen, who served as a facilitator. Participants came away with fresh insights, practical tools, and renewed inspiration to strengthen their leadership — within Rotary and beyond.
