Meeting Notes from February 2, 2023
 
The meeting was opened by President Ryan Jantzen by ringing the bell.  Since there was no flag, we did not do the Pledge of Allegiance.  Bob Mange gave the Invocation.
 
The club's belongings that were at the Folsom Rotary Clubhouse are now in a storage container until the clubhouse repairs are completed and we can go back to the clubhouse.  President Ryan said it was hard to get anything out of the storage container.
 
Secretary Jim Padgett introduced visiting Rotarians and guests.  Rich Rider introduced our exchange student, Axelle Verbist from Belgium, and her host family members who were at the meeting.
 
President Ryan reminded the members that the Rotary District "Day of Service" for every club in the district will be on April 15.  He asked for ideas as to what the club could do on that day.
 
Clayton Lee from the Rotary Club of Sacramento gave a presentation on the Rotary WASH project in collaboration with World Vision in an $800,000 large-scale project to bring access to clean water, sanitation,, and hygiene to more than 14,000 people in Western Honduras.   World Vision has agreed to match Rotary funds up to $400,000 for this critical project.  Every club in the district is on board with this project.  Our club donated $5,000 cash to the project and gave $4,000 in Rotary Foundation DDF funds to the project.
 
 
The foundation for the shed at Twin Lakes Food Bank will built on February 10 and the shed will be built on Saturday, February 11.  Folsom Rotary Annes has donated $500 to this project and will be providing breakfast and drinks on Saturday.
 
Oktorberfest in June is now being called Rotoberfest and will be on June 4 at the Folsom Community Center.
 
May 18 will be a Mystery Trip hosted by Adrian Blanco.
 
Ramesh Dontha levied fines.
 
 
Our speaker was Axelle, our exchange student from Belgium.  Axelle's presentation included information about Belgium including her family, school, and where she lives in Belgium.  At the end of her presentation she answered questions including what she finds different here in Folsom.
 
 
President Ryan presented Axelle with a box of Snook's Chocolate and she presented him with her sponsoring club banner.
