Meeting Notes from August 20, 2020
The ZOOM meeting of August 20 was opened by President Monika Reyes at 7:06 pm. There were 25 participants at the meeting.
President Monika announced that the clubhouse will be closed through the month of September so club meetings will continue on ZOOM. There will NOT be a meeting on September 3; the next meeting will be on Thursday, September 17 at 7 pm. The speaker will be District Governor Brent Hastey.
Community Service Day will be Saturday, September 19. You can register online by following the directions provided by Justin Raithel in the next article.
Joe Gagliardi kicked off the presentation about the club's project in Colima, Mexico last February. President Monika and other members who went talked about the project and working with the students at the school. Everyone who went to Colima strongly urged additional members to join in the work and fun on the next trip. President Monika introduced a friend of hers, Angela Parker, who was on the trip to Colima in February.
John Messner talked about what a Paul Harris Fellow is and the significance of becoming a Paul Harris Fellow. Joe and Maureen Gagliardi then presented a Paul Harris Fellow to Angela.
The meeting adjourned around 8 pm.
Community Service Day, September 19, 2020
Saturday, September 19th, is Folsom's annual Community Service Day! Our club will be beautifying the entry to the historic Granite School that morning and we'd love to have you join us to help out. We'll be doing some minor irrigation work, planting and spreading mulch.
Community Service Day has been approved by the county and the state to take place as long as precautions are followed for COVID-19. Masks and social distancing are required and we are limiting the number of club members that can participate to keep us all spaced out. High risk individuals are discouraged from doing this project and are instead encouraged to choose one of the work from home projects this year.
