President Monika Reyes opened the May 13 ZOOM meeting at 7:03 pm.  There were 21 participants but ONLY 15 Rotarians.  The other 6 were our guests from Scout Troop 94G.

 

The Scouts introduced themselves, talked about what they were doing as Scouts, and talked about the Pinewood Derby racecar that they made and raced for our club in the District 5180 Pinewood Derby Race on May 1.  Present on ZOOM were Scoutmaster Leclerc, Assistant Scoutmaster Budwal, and Scouts Jamie, Tessa, Sabina, Neha, Allison, and Cordelia.  We will learn the outcome of the derby at the District 5180 Conference on Saturday, May 22.  From what the girls said it sounded like they raced the car well.  They took a first, a second, and a third in separate heats, the wheels on their car did not fall off, and their racecar didn't go off the track.  To build the racecar, they were given a block of wood, weights, and wheels from District Governor Brent Hastey.  Thanks go out to Scout Troop 94G for doing this for our club.  You can see their presentation on our website at Scout Troop 94G.  Here is a photo of the racecar.

 

 

President Monika reminded the members of the District 5180 Virtual Conference on May 22 and 23 from 10am to noon each day.  For more information, go to the Rotary District 5180 website, Conference Registration.  She also said that the club received $5,128 from 23 donations to the Folsom Rotary Foundation for Big Day of Giving. 

 

President Monika announced that our Speech Contest winner, Mariya Thomas, came in third at the District level.

 

President Monika also announced that the Rotary Float will be in the Folsom Hometown Parade on June 26th.  

 

Steve Sprague told "Dad" jokes as he thought the Scouts would still be online, however, the girls gave their presentation first and then left the meeting.  He also gave us 3 current headlines.
