Meeting Notes from March 18, 2021

President Monika Reyes opened the ZOOM meeting of March 18 a few minutes after 7 pm.  There were 15 participants.  So, the question of the day is, where were you?  We usually have over 20 participants.  For those of you who were not there, you missed a fun meeting.

President Monika thanked Justin Raithel for heading up the Powerhouse shed building project.
She also said "Happy Quarantine Anniversary" for one year of quarantine lockdown and ZOOM meetings.

President Monika announced that Jay Alling will receive a Paul Harris Plus 4 pin.

President Monika and Christie Watrous put together substitute shenanigans as Colnn Miguelgorry and Steve Sprague were unavailable to lead their program.  We had a scavenger hunt of things in our own homes.  First place winner was Dawn Johnson who will receive a Reverse President's Progressive  Dinner to be delivered to her home.  Second place went to Carolyn and Frank Woods.

Justin announced a work party on the Powerhouse shed for Tuesday, March 23 at 4 pm.

The next meeting will be on Thursday, April 1 at 7 pm on ZOOM.  The program will be on a Project in Brazil.

Rich Pepin talked about the Dictionary Project.  Dictionaries will be delivered to classrooms as there will be no assemblies this year to deliver the books to the students.  The students will view a short video about the Rotary Club of Folsom when they receive their dictionaries.

Powerhouse Shed Project

Work continued on the shed project on Sunday, March 14 and Tuesday, March 23.  On March 14, the roof was added to the shed and on March 23 shingles were put on the roof and sides of the shed were painted.

Another Community Service by Our Club Members

Rosario Rodriguez requested volunteers from the Rotary Club of Folsom to help the city remove an abandoned homeless camp on Saturday, March 27.  The camp was between the Folsom Zoo and Folsom Prison under the Robber's Ravine Bridge on the Johnny Cash Bike Trail.  According to John Messner, they had a 40 cubic yard dumpster to fill and had to carry the trash up a steep incline to get to the dumpster.  Below is a photo of the camp and a photo of the Rotarians who volunteered.
