Meeting Notes from July 21, 2022

The meeting of July 21 was a Club Assembly.  President Ryan Jantzen rang the bell at 7:02 pm.  Al Stehli gave the invocation and President Ryan led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Secretary Jim Padgett introduced visiting Rotarians and guests.  Jim presented Svetlana Osokina with her new badge and presented Past President Steve Brozosky with his Past President badge.

President Ryan introduced each member of the Board of Directors who gave us their plans for the year.  President Ryan announced that he is bringing back the Queen of Hearts so we will have a game of chance again where members can win money.  Below are highlights of Board members presentations.

Rik Bennett is treasurer and reported that he is working with Ramesh Dontha on the transition of the books.

Rochelle Miskanis is Club Service Director and she asked for volunteer to tend bar and assist in setting up the meetings and putting club stuff away after the meeting.  If you can assist her, please contact her.

Community Service Director position is currently unfilled.  It will be handled by President Ryan and President-Elect Justin Raithel until the position is filled.  September 17 is Community Service Day this year.

Kate Gonzales is International Service Director.  She was not at the meeting so President Ryan talked a little about her area.  Past President Steve gave an update on the $75,000 Global Grant Kenya Project.  The club will be planning a trip again this year to Colima, Mexico to continue the projects at the school.

Richelle Brooks is Vocational Service Director.  She was not at the meeting so President Ryan talked a little about her area.  RYE is back.  Our club has an outbound boy to Italy and an inbound girl from Belgium.  We have 2 host families and we need a 3rd host family.  Rich Rider talked about how great the program is and how enjoyable hosting a student is.  Any family can make a great host family.  If you are interested in learning about another culture and making a life long friend, contact Rich or Vicki Bencken and discuss it with them.  Richelle is looking for committee members to serve on the Leadership Conference Committee.  See her if you are interested.  Also, our club will be looking at sponsoring an Interact Club at Vista Del Lago this year.  Dictionaries will be distributed in the fall this year.

Rotary Foundation Chairs this year are John Messner and Ken Stuart.  John said we are back to having an invoice of suggested giving and he was handing them out before and during the meeting.  Following Past President Steve's lead last year of donating through Rotary Direct, John and Ken will be encouraging the members to do so this year.  However, checks are always welcome.  The Rotary Foundation Dinner will be early this year, on September 17.  See President Ryan, John, or Ken for tickets.  President Ryan committed the club to three tables.

Adrian Blanco is Marketing/Public Relations Chair but was not at the meeting.

Jim Ortega is Program Chair again this year.  He asked for suggestions for speakers.

Paul Bonaventure is President of the Folsom Rotary Foundation this year.  He said that the fireworks booth was a great success, $120K gross.  The $40K profit will be split between our club, Rotary Annes, and the Rotary Club of Folsom Lake.

President Ryan is also looking for a Membership Chair.

President Ryan is the District 5180 Blood Donation Chair and talked about how easy it is to donate blood.  Donations can be credited to the Rotary Club of Folsom account.  See Ryan if you want to donate blood.

Meeting adjourned about 8:35 pm.
