The meeting of May 15 was a Mystery Trip. President Elect Scott Bailey and his wife, Lynne, planned and organized a magnificent trip for members, partners, and friends. The trip started at the old Granite School on Mormon Street at 5 pm with cocktails. At about 5:40 we boarded a bus and left not knowing where we were going.
The first stop was at Uncle Charlie's Firehouse and Brew Pub which is under construction in the multi-story garage on Leidesdorff Street in Folsom. Charlie Grows and his daughter, Taryn, are building the pub and expect to be open this summer. Charlie opened the bar to our Rotary Club before anybody else. In addition to a full bar and great hors d'oeuvres, Charlie had a band there playing great music. On the way to the next stop, Scott kept us entertained with trivia questions.
Next we headed to Loomis and stopped at the Loomis Basin Brewery for lots of fun, food, drinks and dancing. Loomis Basin Brewery served excellent wood fired pizzas. Lynne made great salads and wonderful desserts for us. Have Mercy Band was there to play songs of the 60s to the 90s for listening and dancing. Scott continued trivia questions to keep us awake on the way back to Folsom. It was a great evening thanks to Scott and Lynne!
