Meeting Notes from April 17, 2025
The meeting was opened by President Ramesh Dontha at 7 pm. President Dontha led the Pledge of Allegiance and Bob Mange gave the Invocation.
Secretary Jim Padgett introduced guests and visiting Rotarians. Toby bought the bar and when asked why, his answer was Becky Blackwell told me to buy it. Vicki Bencken introduced Elisa Bumgartner and her boyfriend Daniel. Elisa was a RYE student in 2015-16. Vicki also announced that two students from Folsom High will be going on a Rotary summer exchange program this year. Justin Raithel introduced his guest, John Lane who paddled on our Dagon Boat.
Brian Martell announced to the club that Judge John (Jack) Stroud passed away on April 7, 2025. Jack was a long time member of our Rotary Club and was a member when I joined in 1987. He was a Paul Harris Fellow and will be remembered by our older members as a highly respected member of our community.
Scott Bailey said that the trailer was returned to us by the Boy Scouts and it has been repainted.
President Ramesh said that Monika Reyes asked for volunteers for the Historic Folsom Hometown Parade which will be on Saturday, June 28 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. Please contact Monika if you can volunteer to help with the parade.
There will be a project on Saturday morning, April 19, helping Candy Miller with some yard work at her home at 10 am.
Chuck Thompson reminded the members of the Bet on Rotary Fundraiser on May 16 at the Folsom Community Center from 6 pm to 10 pm. This is a joint fundraiser for the Rotary Clubs of Historic Folsom and Folsom Lake. It is a game night and the cost is $75 per person.
President Ramesh reminded everyone of the Mystery Trip on May 15 and the River Cats Ball Park Trip on May 29.

Vicki Bencken introduced our speaker, Kelly Larson, LMFT, Director, and Supervisor at Pacific Counseling and Trauma Center in Folsom. She gave us an Introduction to Brainspotting which, according to their website is "Brainspotting is a powerful, focused treatment method that works by identifying, processing, and releasing core neuro-physiological sources of emotional and physical pain, and unhealthy coping mechanisms associated with PTSD. It allows the client to channel the healthy "head" knowledge they possess to transform debilitating traumatic memories and the negative beliefs they feel in relation to the incident." Kelly explained how this therapy works.
President Ramesh presented a chocolate Rotary Wheel from Snook’s to Kelly.
