Remember when?

Does this look familiar?  It has been 16 months since we met in the Robert H. Miller III Rotary Clubhouse.  It was great to see so many members enjoying a drink and each other's company after so many months.

Meeting Notes from July 8, 2021

Members of the club started singing before President Steve Brozosky rang the bell to open the meeting so he rang the bell after the song.  Al Stehli led us in an opening prayer.  Three members were on ZOOM.

Secretary Jim Padgett introduced visitors and welcomed Scott Johnson back into the club after an eight year absence.  Scott recently moved back to Folsom.  Welcome back.  Jim also talked about the members who we lost during the past 16 months.

President Steve announced that Rotary International President Shekhar Mehta's Theme for 2021-2022 is "Serve to Change Lives".  To read about the theme, go to RI President's Theme.
President Steve also announced that District Governor Desiree Wilson's Theme is "Creating Today's Superheroes".  For more information about her theme, go to District5180.org.  The club's Theme is "Do Good and Have Fun".

Scott Moore asked for volunteers to be bartenders at our meetings.  It is a great way for our newest members to get to meet all of our members but the job is open to all.

President Steve thanked the members who helped refurbish the Rotary Float and participated in the Folsom Hometown Parade in June.  He also thanked the Rotarians who worked in the beer booth at the Folsom Rodeo.  Joe Gagliardi also thanked the club on behalf of the Folsom Chamber of Commerce for bartending at the Rodeo.  50% of the alcohol purchased was sold out the first night.

President Steve also said that one of the goals of RI President Mehta is new members.  Cards to give to potential members will be available at the meetings.

Justin Raithel announced that the first community project will be on July 21 and it is to re-roof the pavilion at Lew Howard Park.

Dave Boldt announced a golf tournament in August.

Ken Stuart introduced our speaker Rik Bennett.  Rik talked about his experiences as a high school and college football referee.  The title of his presentation was "The Art of Becoming Invisible".  Very interesting presentation.
