Meeting Notes from February 20, 2025
The meeting of February 20 was opened by President Ramesh Dontha at 7:00 pm. Chuck Thurman led the Pledge of Allegiance and Bob Mange gave the Invocation.
Secretary Jim Padgett introduced guests and visiting Rotarians. John Messner bought the bar in celebration of his last radiation treatment.
Henry Sundermier has been out of the hospital for three weeks and was at the Board Meeting prior to our regular meeting but didn't stay for our regular meeting.
President Ramesh commented that the Valentines Day meeting was very successful.
President Ramesh presented a Paul Harris +8 pin to Vicki Bencken and Kari Nelson received his first Paul Harris. He was assisted by Rotary Foundation Club Co-Chairs Cathy and Len Hundshamer.

President Ramesh announced that the club will have a work project at Black Miners Bar on Saturday, February 22. The project is pouring concrete footings for a gazebo and will start at 10 am.
President Ramesh reminded the members that the Dave West Partnerships for Tomorrow Youth Leadership Conference is on February 27 from 8 am to 3 pm. We still needed 10 mentors so hopefully our members stepped up to the plate and volunteered this week.
Dictionary distribution starts February 25 and will go for 2 weeks. President Ramesh sent out an email on Friday, September 21 with the schedule and how to sign up. The link to sign-up is

Vicki Bencken said that the district is looking for counselors for RYLA from June 15 to 20. She is passionate about RYLA and said it is an amazing experience working with high school juniors. The deadline to sign up is March 20. If you are interested, contact Vicki.
Dragon Boat Races will be held this year on April 5. We have entered a team and if you want to be a rower this year, you can sign up at

John Messner was the Rotarian this week in "Get to Know Your Fellow Rotarians". You can view the presentation about John at

Jim Ortega levied fines.
Vicki introduced our speaker, Terri Daniels, Principal at Folsom Middle School. Terri was named California Middle School Principal of this year. Her topic was "Teach Different and Building Bridges Better". Basically the project is how to teach students in the current environment of cellphones and social media.
President Ramesh presented a box of chocolates that included a chocolate Rotary Wheel to Terri for sharing this project with us.
Footings for Gazebo in Interpretive Center at Black Miners Bar
On Saturday, February 22, Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Folsom and Rotary Club of Historic Folsom, poured footings for a gazebo in the Interpretive Center at Black Miners Bar. On Saturday, March 1, the project at the Interpretive Center will be constructing the gazebo starting at 9 am.
