The meeting was opened by President Steve Brozosky who led the Pledge of Allegiance.  The members sort of led themselves singing "My Country Tis of Thee".  Former member Pat Geary gave the invocation.

 

Jim Padgett asked members at each table to introduce spouses and guests.

 

Justin Raithel sent around signups for the Lew Howard roof project.  Note that since the meeting, the date for the removal of the roof has been postponed until October 30.  Justin also reminded members of Community Service Day on Saturday, September 18.  If you can volunteer, sign-up with Justin.

 

The Murer House is hosting a Bocce Ball Tournament on Saturday, September 11 and would like to have a Rotary Team enter.  Rich Pepin volunteered to be team captain and raise a team.

 

Sue Barrett talked about the District 5180 Rotary Foundation Dinner at the Doubletree Hotel on Saturday, October 30.  Cost is $70 per person.  Guest Speaker is Bob Rogers, Rotary Zone 27 EndPolioNow Coordinator and member of the Rotary Club of Sebastopol.  He is a polio survivor and will share his personal story of how he came to be a Rotarian and his commitment to raise funds for PolioPlus.  If you want to attend, contact Sue or President Steve.

 

President Steve talked about our November event at the Harris Center with Brian Shul.  He asked the members to please get sponsors, provide raffle prizes, and provide silent auction items to help make this a very successful fund-raiser for the club.

 

Steve Sprague levied fines.

 

Chuck Thompson introduced our speaker, Brian Shul.  Brian's topic was "Blackbirds to Butterflies".

 

President Steve presented Brian with our speaker's gift, a chocolate Rotary Wheel from Snook's.
