Meeting Notes from July 29, 2021
President Steve Brozosky opened the meeting by leading the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by the members singing "My Country Tis of Thee". Bob Mange gave the invocation.
President Steve welcomed two new members into the club, Brent Sundahl and Richelle Brozosky.
Brent was sponsored by John Messner and his classification is Medical Sales. Richelle was sponsored by President Steve and her classification is PG&E Senior Logistical Planner.
Brent's father, Carl Sundahl, was president of the club in 1959/1960.
Richelle's father, Steve, is, of course, our current president.
President Steve said that the club is working with the caterer to be sure we have great meals. He also asked the club members to leave the closest parking spaces open for older members.
Justin Raithel said there will be a work party on Tuesday evening, August 3, to finish the Willow Springs deck.
Ryan Jantzen reminded the members that the September 2 meeting will be a BBQ for first responders. We will have live music at this meeting.
The band, Have Mercy, which includes several Rotarians, will be playing at the Zittle Family Amphitheater in the Folsom Historic District on Thursday, August 19.
Steve announced that the club will have an Octoberfest Celebration on October 23 and a Holiday Party on December 16.
Frank Woods talked about the Folsom Rotary Cycling Team and their upcoming ride for Breathe California on September 11. The ride this year will be one day in Placer County with several different length rides to choose from. Rotary has had a cycling team for over 25 years raising funds for this organization.
President Steve reminded everyone of the upcoming Brian Shul talk at the Harris Center on November 27. All we need to do is sell tickets!
Steve Sprague levied fines.
Ken Stuart introduced our speaker, Scott Gleave, Manager of Les Schwab Tires. Scott talked about everything you ever need to know about tires.
Willow Creek Reservoir Deck Project
On Saturday, July 24, Folsom Rotarians removed the old decking from the viewing area and installed new decking. Led by Rotarian Justin Raithel, the project started at 8 am and was completed about 4 hours later. The usual refreshments were provided by Justin. It was great to see Past President and former member Dave Doherty join us as this project is in his neighborhood and he suggested the project to Justin. The city provided the material for this project.
