The first dictionary distribution to third graders this year was held at Carl Sundahl School on Monday, February 12. On hand to distribute the dictionaries were Rich Pepin, Chris Marsh (who attended Carl Sundahl School), Brent Sundahl, Len Hundshamer, Cathy Hundshamer, Peter Evenhuis, Charlie Grows, Frank Woods, and Mike McAtee (member of Historic Folsom Rotary Club). Carl Sundahl was a prominent dentist in Folsom and a Past President of the Rotary Club of Folsom. |
There are 3 third grade classes at Carl Sundahl School this year. Rich started the distribution by explaining what Rotary is and having each member introduce themselves. Then the dictionaries were given to each third grader. They were asked to open the dictionaries to the front cover so they could see the sticker which said the dictionaries are a gift from the Rotary Clubs of Folsom and that they can write their name on it when they get back to class. Next, Rich asked the students to look up some words and made it a race between them and their teachers. The students really enjoyed receiving the dictionaries. The clubs will be distributing 1,057 dictionaries to every third grader in Folsom this year including private schools and children who are home schooled.
